Returns And Refunds

Returns & Refunds Policy

Last updated 17th August 2026
This policy outlines your legal rights regarding returns, cancellations, and refunds under UK Consumer Law (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015).

1. Right to Cancel & Change of Mind Returns

You have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 calendar days of receiving your goods.

  • Notification: You must notify us of your intent to cancel within 14 days of delivery via our Contact Form, including your name and order number.
  • Return Period: Once notified, you have a further 14 calendar days to send the goods back to us.
  • Return Postage Costs: For change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for paying all return shipping costs. We recommend using a tracked service with adequate insurance, as goods remain your responsibility until received by us.

Refusal & Value Deductions

  • Original Delivery Charges: We will refund the item cost plus our standard outbound delivery charge. If you chose an upgraded or express delivery service, only the cost of basic standard delivery will be refunded.
  • Condition of Goods: Items must be returned unused, undamaged, and in their original, intact packaging.
  • Loss in Value: Under UK law, if you handle the goods beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning (similar to how you would inspect them in a shop), we reserve the right to deduct an amount from your refund up to 100% of the purchase price to reflect the loss in resale value.

Non-Returnable Items (Biosecurity & Hygiene Exceptions)

Due to aquatic biosecurity, health protection, and hygiene risks, the following items cannot be returned once unsealed or opened:

  • Filter Media & Biological Substrates
  • Air Stones, Diffusers, and Air Lines
  • Fish Food, Treatments, Water Conditioners, and Additives
  • Nets, Bowls, Pipework, and Bottom Drains

If these items are opened, unsealed, or exposed to moisture, your right to cancel is forfeited under statutory hygiene exceptions.

2. Damaged or Faulty Goods

Your rights for faulty or damaged goods are governed by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Goods Damaged in Transit

Please inspect your delivery upon arrival and notify us with photographic evidence of any shipping damage within 48 hours of receipt so we can arrange a replacement and claim with the courier.

Faulty Products

  • Within 30 Days: If a product develops a manufacturing fault within 30 days of delivery, you are entitled to a full refund or replacement. We will cover or reimburse reasonable return postage costs for verified faulty items.
  • After 30 Days (Up to 12 Months): If a product (such as electrical equipment) becomes faulty after 30 days, you are entitled to a repair or replacement under the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Fragile Consumables: Items such as UV bulbs and quartz sleeves are covered for arrival damage (when reported within 48 hours). Standard failure due to normal wear and tear, incorrect installation, or power surges is excluded.

3. How to Process a Return

  1. Submit Request: Contact us using our online Contact Us Form with your order number and details of the return.
  2. Receive Authorisation: Upon review, we will provide you with a Return Authorisation (RA) Code and return address instructions.
  3. Dispatch: Securely package the item and return it within 14 days. Do not return any items without an RA Code, as unidentifiable packages may delay processing.

Statutory Rights: These terms and conditions are fully compliant with, and do not affect, your statutory rights under UK Consumer Protection Law.
