Available in either 25 or 50 litre options,Helps to remove ammonia and nitrate
Designed for moving bed filters – helps increase filter efficiency.
Moulded with minerals for faster beneficial bacteria development
Class leading total surface area 1,350 m² per m³ – out performing the original K1 media in your pond and is designed for use in mechanical / biological filtration systems.
Added to the K1 media family, the new Evolution Aqua K + Media boasts over 2x the protected surface area of the standard K1 media and has an overall greater surface area than the original K1.
During the extrusion process, Evolution Aqua add a range of minerals, along with magnesium, calcium, enzymes and salt to the raw material that is used to manufacture K+ Media. The result means that K+ Media will mature much faster than many other types of media.
The media provides the maximum active surface area for the bacteria to colonise, much more than other types of static media. It is this process which removes harmful ammonia and nitrite from the water.
Within the wheel is a protected surface which enables colonies of bacteria to naturally follow their life cycle, of maturing, dying and then fuelling the latter stages of the nitrification cycle. K1 is different from other media as it moves within the filter and causes old dead bacteria on the outside of the wheel to be displaced, leaving space for new bacteria to rapidly develop.
Unlike foam, matting, or other forms of static filtration media, the K+ Media is designed to move freely within your filter as a moving bed filtration system. The constant chaotic movement of the air from your pump, causes the media to self clean and thus requires no maintenance.
This allows the filter to reach optimum effectiveness without the disturbance of periodic cleaning, avoiding unnecessary loss of bacteria within the filter.
